I’m just a Jules in the world…

Time for a visit!!

I’m getting excited to go back to Lexington for Christmas. It’s always good to see my mom. I love her and worry about her. We have a great time chatting about the “old days” and nothing in particular. Sometimes we even head up to the casinos up north to play some slots.

We won’t be decorating the house this year. It’s so much work and I won’t be home long enough to enjoy it. Three trees, stairways, catwalk banisters, outdoor fixtures… So much stuff to haul out of the basement. Then, we never stick around long enough to pack it back up and lug it back downstairs. It’s way too much for mom to do on her own.

My entire schedule during the trip is mad! With everything I have to do, timing is going to be tight. I’ll have to be in my best form to get it all done. Having been so sick for the past few weeks has taken its toll.

I’ve got some brilliant get-togethers planned with old classmates as well! It’s going to be crazy but I have four or five different sets of plans. Erin isn’t one for chaos, so she is opting out on my outings with friends. Ha! There is one that I have begged her to join me on… Ben & Carol, I do hope you get to finally meet her! As for the rest, I can’t say that I blame her.

One visit is with a friend from childhood. Funny how the people we choose to be friends with at 10, 11, or 12 can be the same people that we meet again and choose to be friends with at 38. We get along smashingly via messages. It’s nice to have that familiarity that never seems to have gone away.

Another, is my very best friend from freshman year on. We completely lost touch in college, as she joined a sorority and that just wasn’t for me. She was a friend who was allowed to stay over on school nights and vice versa. Each of our mothers would complain because they would only see us once every few days, and only then because we were grabbing more clothes!

For a while, there was a small group of us – six to be exact – who caused mischief together and had laughs. I could go on forever about all of that. It will be amazing to get together in that small group for some food and laughs. Can’t wait to see them.

Then, we have the “doozie of a soire”… It started as 5-6 people having dinner, which then turned into 10 people having dinner… Now, I have actually created an “Event” on facebook for it. I haven’t been to a single class reunion, meaning I have a LOT of people to catch up with! Before I knew it, we had 30-ish on what turned into a “guest list”, not including the “+1’s”. Wow!

I need to contact the place we are headed to and see what their policy is… It’s one thing to call and say “Hi, we have 10 people coming for dinner, can you set up the tables?” This is going to be a mash up of dinner, drinks, munchies, people probably coming and going – definitely not a proper sit-down meal. Wow… just WOW! But, it’s soooo much fun!!

That’s all I have time for right now. I’m just a ball of energy!!
