I am one tired puppy. I just got back from a day at Moalboal. It’s a great diving area on the south-west side of Cebu. Personally, I could (and do) enjoy a day at the beach.
Yes, I have beaches all around me. But, none are like the stretch of beach in Moalboal. It’s one of the first places that I really connected here. Just to go sit on the white sand, looking at the perfect waters, without a care in the world!
It’s a good place to swim, because the current runs horizontal to the beach, for the most part. So, essentially, you can “swim upstream” while staying in place. haha I actually did that for about 45 minutes today. Decent exercise.
My helper doesn’t come in until 8am, so my driver prepared our lunch. Just standard Filipino fare. Besides, he’s the best cook in the house.
For some unknown reason, I’ve never taken my snorkel gear down there. I’ve snorkeled everywhere else around the world. Why not this one beach? So, today we took our gear. Because my driver goes everywhere I do, (obviously) I got him some of his own gear.
Man oh man! It was low tide when we started, so we went all the way out to the reef wall. Essentially, the ocean floor is very shallow with the slightest slope. So, you could swim “out to sea” forever. We tried to do just that.
Then, all of a sudden, this massive drop occurs – hence, reef wall.
It’s great to snorkel along there because you can see all of the shallow marine life up close – very close. Then, you can see the “big fish” coming up from the deep. It’s also a good place to free dive. I didn’t miss my tank at all today.
I needed a good day in the sun like this! Life is good.
