Scuba, Snuba, and Sardines in Cebu

No, I haven’t turned into Dr. Seuss overnight. This was my day.  Seriously.

So, I didn’t get to dive last night, and tonight was looking shitty too. I was feeling dried out, and my gills couldn’t suck air much longer. This is a true “fish out of water” emergency. At least the way I see it, it is. The best fix… go during the day.

Man I had one of the most beautifully amazing drift dives – and at 90′ ( 28m). Even the sites I see every week are ever-changing. The different depths offer different aquatic life, colors, etc. I can’t say it enough, it is Heaven to me… my home away from home.

After I moved considerably more shallow (intentionally, and I’ll get to that) I was near the “Snuba Walkers”. Every place has their own name for it. You put on these big air helmets that have air continually pumped to you from the surface. Gives people a chance to see things 15′ – 20′ under without actually diving.

There was a huge group in there today… all with their cameras. So, Dindo – my buddy – and I must have posed for 10 pictures with them. It was pretty funny. I never think of people wanting to take my pic or finding me interesting. Pretty cool and I was happy to oblige.

At the end of this drift site there are tens of thousands sardines. If you are very still and vent your bubbles carefully, you will find yourself in a sea of silver – above you, surrounding you. It is so much fun. I make it down there every other week. There are other fish too – the vivid colors look awesome against the shimmering silver.

So, that’s how I got my title. Good day all around.

We’re going to check the currents tonight and tomorrow night – at the physical location. We might shoot for Thursday night. Cross your fins for me, please. I’m tired of waiting for this dive. It is just a big tease.

Next week, HOPEFULLY, I’m going to Moalboal for some dives. It will be a great adventure. Seems like there is a good cave there too. I’ll have to check it out.
